DPA (Deep-sea Probe Analyzer)
DPA
(Deep-sea Probe Analyzer)
is the state of the art “in-situ” probe analyzer, which
can automatically measure up to four chemical compounds in surface
and seawater.
This
new innovative probe is expressly designed for applied oceanographic
research in deep sea environments. The analytical reactor used in
DPA has been tested up to 450 bars of external
water pressure, using the pressure compensation option.
DPA
is able, as a standard, to detect four nutrient compounds, according
to the following detection limits:
-
Ammonia: 2 ppb
- Orthophosphate:
1 ppb.
- Nitrate
+ Nitrite: 2ppb
- Nitrite:
0.6 ppb.
The
probe automatically performs well-proven spectrophotometric wet
chemistries, commonly used in laboratories.
Many
other analytical methods, including silicates and
metals, are available on request.
DPA
is the most advanced analytical probe ever designed due to:
-
New 5 ml micro Loop Flow
Reactor (µLRF), which
enables the lowest consumption of reagents and calibrants.
- Exclusive
compact multi-beam, fiber optic based, colorimetric detector.
- New
compact design, which now ensures a real portability of the instrument.
- Reliable
external reagent holder, makes easy substitution of reagents and
calibration solutions possible.
- The
high modular assembly is designed for easy integration inside
any pre-existing buoy, ROV or towed vehicle, with a deployment
depth down to -30 m (standard), or down to -4500 m with the deep-sea
version of the probe.
Results
are directly provided in concentration units and all measured values
are stored with date, time, and sample O.D. (Optical Density). The
same data are available remotely through a serial communication
port, which allows the complete configuration and remote control
of the probe, using an external Windows based software.
Reagents
handling and built-in calibration feature
Sealed
bags containing reagents are placed in the external reagent holder
and are Refrigerating directly by the surrounding water. The reagent
bags are connected to the internal analytical reactor, with an exclusive
fast hydraulic multi-connector. Reagent consumption is limited to
80 microliters of each reagent per analysis. Auto-calibration is
performed using concentrated standard solutions, contained in the
external reagent holder.
